Ephemeral Im-print
(graduation project)
In an attempt to reduce the gap, I sense between me and the Westduinpark my local nature, I created a site-specific scenario, based on the cyclic rhythm of nature, with a picnic set as main tool. I borrowed plants, that need to be removed to maintain the site’s biodiversity, and sand from this natural reserve. With my transportable atelier I transformed these materials into single-use, decomposable ware, on the spot. During a lunch event dune’s neighbours crossing the area on their way to the beach were invited to participate in the harvest of the materials. In return they got a picnic set that allowed them to enjoy the wilderness with all their senses. After use, the picnic set was left behind on spot, where the site-specific ingredients are being part of the natural cycle of decomposition again.
